Hey, very nice job. One question... why 568??

Oh that's the second part of the puzzle :) It is merely a vague reference to the classic calculators using ink display where each digit is made up from lines that gets turned on or off. Some numbers on these calculators may look like words, for example 707 turns out to be LOL if you turn it upside down. 568 is quite simply my initials :)

You wouldn't believe how long i have been googlin' and tryin' to find an answer. :D The form of a root is pretty cool. :) How long did it take you to create such a detailed piece of art?? LOVE IT

Heh, ehm, a bit hard to say. If you consider just this part then I think it might not be that much, perhaps 20 hours? Considering the whole thing it did go faster in the beginning, but I gradually went into more and more details (I guess the OCB took over :)). I was drawing on and off over 19 months to do the black and white version, then an additional 6 months to do the coloured one.

In terms of hours it's a bit difficult as it just seems like a long blur. One problem I had was that my computer was somewhat unstable and would crash randomly once or twice a day, so there was always the risk of file corruption when saving. Every time I saved I also had to create backups just in case. Looking at it now I see that I had 211 backups for the black and white version and 32 for the coloured one. Based on this I might guess that I spent something along the lines of 1000 hours in total, but it is far from accurate :D

Sounds like you like a puzzle :fish:, I don't know if you are familiar with the game Chrono Trigger, but I did run a contest a while back which you might find interesting: [link]

How about yourself, do you mostly play around with photography?

That's pretty cool, man. Yeah, but I don't have much time nor camera for that anymore. :( You know... College, girlfriend, part time jobs and I'm glad just to relax when I can...

I've got some picture which i haven't uploaded here yet but I'm not very satisfied about them... Hoping that summer will bring some new inspiration :)

That contest sounds like fun, I'll try to fingure that out even if it's over ;)

I know how time becomes divided into small unrecognisable units when you have too many things going on and you have to prioritise. Photography is fun though and I have done a bit of it myself, I think you should pick it up again when time allows. As my father says; time is not something you have, it is something you take.

That contest is perhaps a bit over the top in terms of difficulty. I'd say it is at notpr0n level :D

It sure is fun. If I get my hands on a new camera I'll probably try to get some new pictures. You encouraged me, man. :) Thanks a lot for that. Your pop seems to be a wise man ;)
Yeah, I was staring at that thing for like and hour :D I couldn't stand that anymore and I peeked on the solution picture!! :D Did anybody found out the solution??

Hey you're very welcome. No nobody found it out but one of the criterias was that if nobody did then the prize went to the most creative answer, so the best strategy was really just to make a ludicrous non-sensical statement. The participation was poor and I guess it's the wrong kind of contest for dA. The journal entry shows a bit of what people guessed and what some of my own suggestions might have been if I didn't know the answer: [link]

I guess I was also wanting to show what the solution was, but it would also be cool to have an open ended "puzzle" contest where a prize is given to the first one who finds the solution. Hmm, interesting idea, might ponder that :D
